NZ bachelor Art and Matilda go bareboating in the Whitsundays

NZ Bachelor comes to the Whitsundays on the heels of celebrity chef Fast Ed Halmagyi, from Australia's Better Homes and Gardens.

Art Green NZ’s first Bachelor and his lovely lady Matilda Rice enjoyed a bareboating holiday in the Whitsundays recently.

They talked about how lovely it was to get away and not be recognized everywhere they went.

“Here we can hold hands and nobody stares!” Matilda said.

The fit and healthy couple met on the first season of New Zealand’s The Bachelor almost two years ago, and have been in the public eye ever since, with Matilda securing modeling contracts for brands like Jockey underwear and Maybelline makeup.

“We haven’t had a day or night with no plans for about a year,” Art said.

“That’s why it’s nice to come away and visit places like this,” he said.

In the Whitsundays, Art and Matilda had the freedom to be just like any other couple strolling down beautiful Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island. The couple watched a family of turtles swim lazily by, while the sun set. Enjoying some time to themselves, Art and Matilda shared a sweet embrace and a giggle.

Fast Ed cooks up a storm in the Whitsundays

Celebrity Chef Fast Ed Halmagyi of Australia’s Better Homes & Gardens also recently got to experience what bareboating in the Whitsundays is all about.

Setting himself up with some amazing cooking challenges centred around fresh seafood and tropical fruits, Ed cooked up the most delicious meals that anyone could prepare on a boat.

Ed described the Whitsundays as one of the most beautiful places on earth, Australia’s great holiday destination.

“There’s nothing more ‘Queensland’ than a perfectly chilled Australian tiger prawn,” said Ed.

On the idea of bareboating, Ed suggested to get a couple of families together to make it a really cost-effective holiday. We couldn’t agree more!

Some of the recipes Ed cooked up on his bareboat in the Whitsundays were a pine-coconut mocktail, mixed rice salad chock full of local Bowen produce, and prawns with spicy hazelnut mayo.
