A Whitsunday boating bucket list

April 9, 2018

The Whitsunday Islands are a dream destination for many travellers. It’s an unforgettable spot that offers some of the best activities, destinations, and itineraries. With 74 islands to explore and so many things to do, it’s almost impossible NOT to have an amazing time in the Whitsunday islands. To make the most of your holiday, make sure you have these 5 things on your Whitsunday bucket list.

Visit Famous Whitehaven Beach

If you’ve seen any pictures of the Whitsundays, you’ve certainly seen Whitehaven Beach. The spectacular white stretch of sand is one of the most photographed beaches in the world. It’s also regularly voted as one of the world’s best beaches, thanks to its shoreline of the most beautiful white sand. It has to be on the top of your bucket list! Whitehaven Beach is stunning, and you’ll want to take some time to walk on it, swim in the waters, and simply enjoy the beauty and serenity. When you go bareboating, you can find a secluded stretch of the beach all to yourself.

Experience History at the Ngaro Caves

Hook Island is home to Nara Inlet, a 3km long fjord-like inlet that offers protection from just about all wind directions. Heading onto the island itself is where the real magic happens. Climb the stone steps up the hill to the ancient cave paintings by the Ngaro Aboriginal people. Take an hour, the walk is short, but there is very thoughtful interpretive signage and audio recordings to listen to, telling some of the history of our local people. This is a cultural site not to be missed.

Snorkel Stunning Coral Reefs

The Whitsundays are well known for our tropical coral reefs. With snorkelling gear provided free of charge for all charter guests, take the opportunity to explore our undersea world. There’s great visibility in many locations, and you can discover colourful coral in an amazing array of shapes and sizes, teeming with tropical fish and marine life. Sometimes you might be lucky enough to see manta rays, sea turtles, whales, and other native wildlife.

A Luxury Yachting Holiday

Feel like royalty on a luxury yacht in one of the world’s most beautiful destinations. The Whitsundays has an amazing selection of high-end luxury sailing and power boats to hire where you can live the dream. Of course, the best way to experience the Whitsunday Islands themselves is to sail in on a bareboat yacht charter. We may seem a bit biased, but we know firsthand just how magical a Whitsunday sailing holiday can be! All yachts are very well equipped, and you can order a range of luxury provisions to enhance the experience.

Enjoy a Meal Under the Stars

Enjoy the serenity at night with dinner and drinks under the stars. Away from the noise and lights of the big city, the sky over the islands is filled with more stars than you can imagine. While your covered cockpit and comfy saloon will be very enticing, make sure you spend an evening lounging on the deck appreciating all the stars.
